Indonesia Aims for Food Self-Sufficiency Amid
Challenges
The Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture
is working to achieve food self-sufficiency as soon as possible, following President
Prabowo Subianto's directive.
To support this goal, the ministry has
allocated Rp 54 trillion for fertilizers and Rp 10-15 trillion for agricultural
equipment. However, there have been reports of irregularities, with
some farmers being asked to pay up to Rp 50 million for equipment that is
supposed to be free.
The ministry is also addressing the issue
of counterfeit fertilizers, which have caused an estimated Rp
3.4 trillion in losses to farmers.
The Ministry of Agriculture is working closely with the Attorney
General's Office to ensure that these challenges are addressed and that
the country's food self-sufficiency goals are met.
Minister of Agriculture Said "We have submitted 27 and 4 companies to law enforcement
agencies regarding the misappropriation of subsidized fertilizers provided by
the government.
